He was wandering along the edge of Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park. He stared straight at me and then presented his side view which I took as permission to photograph him. This is his fall plumage which made for a bit of a struggle when it came to identifying him. My bird book says he is usually a glossy black.
I found this little bird in Jasper while on a walk by Maligne Lake. He came very close, curious, and I was able to take a very clear photograph. What perfect plumage.
